Mourning Dove

Family - Dove

Nick Names - Upland Dove, Wood Dove, Socorro Dove, Grayson's Dove, Carolina Dove

Description - Mourning doves have black beaks and are usually grayish brown, and may have thin necks with purple or green sheens. The lower area of the neck is accented with a black marking. The wings are usually dark brown with black spots in the front. They have a long tail that is dark brown except for the feathers at the outer tip are edged in white.

Temperament - Dove's in general don't like to be touched.

Sexing - Males are generally larger than females.

Origin - Wild mourning doves are found from North to South America during different times of the year.

Trainability - Not trainable.

Loudness - very low

Diet:

Wild seeds, grain, and cracked corn.
