Description - Blue-Fronted Amazons are about 14 inches long and mostly green. They have a yellow face and blue feathers around their beaks. They also have yellow and red patches on their shoulders. Amazons are the 2nd best talking birds (second only to African Greys) and Blue-Fronted Amazons are amongst the best of the Amazons when it comes to talking. Amazons are famous for their affectionate nature and are a great addition to any family.

Temperament - Blue-Fronted Amazons are incredibly intelligent and affectionate. Males can be particularly difficult after they reach sexual maturity, especially during molts. Building a good relationship with male Blue=Fronted Amazons will help greatly after sexual maturity is reached.

Sexing - Can not be determined visually.

Origin - Wild Blue-Fronted Amazons are found in Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Bolivia.

Trainability - Amazons in general are very intelligent and trainable. Special care must be taken with male Amazons before they reach sexual maturity or they might become mean. Blue-Fronted Amazons are excellent talkers and wonderful additions to any household. Your Blue-Fronted Amazon will work hard to please you.

Diet:

Your blue-fronted amazon needs a wide variety of food. They need pellets and seed mixes, fresh fruits, vegetables, and table food. Your blue-fronted amazon will show distinct preferences, but you must take control. A grey will gorge on Sunflower seeds to the neglect of more nutritious food. greys need extra calcium, as they are unable to store it in their bones. Oranges, collard and/or mustard greens, and cooked broccoli are excellent dietary supplements.
